Statement composing an artwork I strive to capture something unique and compelling. With each stroke of the brush a multitude of illusions are revealed through the application of colors and textures, amidst the interplay of light, shade, shadow, reflection and transparency. I think of painting as three dimensional, similar to a sculpture, where the viewer can explore the depth of the artwork. I consider myself a "dark" painter, using deeper, richer colors. My favorite medium is oil on stretched canvas or a cradled panel. I especially love creating artwork that encompasses people doing the things they most enjoy. When I am able to capture an emotion or mystique that holds and moves the viewer, or create an interaction where the viewer experiences the moment, I feel a great sense of accomplishment. Painting is relaxing, peaceful, and above all, it is my passion. |
